FAQs
Who can enroll?
We are currently closed for academic enrollment, but students aged 14-24 may participate in service learning and earn certification for credit for graduation as ACT5 volunteers, without being enrolled in the Academy.
Do you serve students with special needs or camp returnees?
No. ACT5 does not currently have special services or funding for additional support programs at this time.
Are ACT5 teachers qualified?
Our teachers are CA credentialed and vetted, with over 75 years of combined experience in public and private education. All staff and administration is volunteer-based at this time, and in this community spirit, our space is also currently donated by CSL in Downtown Los Angeles.
What governance system is used?
The private school Academy is aligned with CA Education Codes for private non-profit schools, and the NAIS Principles of Good Practice, to address grade level objectives within a flexible curriculum.
Is volunteering required?
Yes, to enroll in the Academy, students and parent/guardians sign a Compaq that agrees to participate in service-learning, which may also integrate artistic endeavors in flexible settings and are proven to support positive self-esteem academic outcomes.
Is this a religious school/organization?
While some courses and events are offered at an historic church space, the curriculum is non-religious. People from all backgrounds, cultures, and religious bellefs are welcome.

Who are We?
We are-- a private, alternative school program in our third year of growth. The current model offers a no-cost, educational alternative for a limited number of 9th grade students under our private school non-profit, 501c3.
We are small by design. Our student-to-staff ratio is under10:1, within a general education curriculum that is personalized to promote motivation and encourage meaningful learning..
As a socially conscious program, ACT5 Academy is purposefully designed around Humanistic, evidence-based theory and practice that support sindependent academic inquiry, analytical thinking, and the fostering of personal potental with a focus on life-satisfaction and total well-being.
